Flair Airlines launches Canada Mexico flights

For the first time, Canadians can fly nonstop to Guanajuato International Airport (BJX) in Mexico, thanks to Flair Airlines’ new service from Vancouver International Airport (YVR). The inaugural flight took off over the weekend, offering direct access to Mexico’s lively Bajío region.

Len Corrado, CEO of Flair Airlines, stated that the carrier looks for opportunities to connect Canadians to underserved destinations, and the Bajío region is a great example. This new route gives Canadians their first nonstop connection to the region, opening up cities like León, Guanajuato, and San Miguel de Allende. We’re making it easier and more affordable for Canadians to experience a different part of Mexico, while creating a new connection between the two countries.”

The Bajío region is celebrated for its food, culture, history, and lively cities, as highlighted by Flair Airlines and local officials. San Miguel de Allende, located just over an hour from BJX, was named the world’s best city by Travel + Leisure in 2026 for the third consecutive year.

Jessica Paola Olivo Moreno, director of the Guanajuato International Airport, said the launch of the first-ever flight connecting Guanajuato with Canada marks an important milestone for the airport and the region’s international connectivity. The airport has been recognized by ACI for three consecutive years as the best airport in Latin America and the Caribbean in the category of two to five million passengers.

Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, Governor of Guanajuato, welcomed the new connection, saying it opens a new gateway connecting the people and destinations of Guanajuato and Vancouver. Russell Atkinson, Director of Air Service Development at Vancouver International Airport, noted that the new nonstop route makes YVR a stronger gateway for the communities it serves, expanding travel options for Western Canadians and strengthening connections for B.C.’s Mexican community.

Flair will operate weekly nonstop service between Vancouver and Guanajuato, with one-way base fares starting at $184 from YVR to BJX and $176 from BJX to YVR. As Canada’s leading value carrier, Flair Airlines aims to make air travel affordable, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone, connecting over 25 cities across Canada, the U.S., Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica with its growing fleet of fuel-efficient Boeing 737 aircraft.
